Summer Crock Pot Recipes
We have been asked if we have summer crock pot recipes. We realized we have not really explained how we use the crock pot in the summertime. What we want is not to heat up the house, and of course easy homemade food. So what we do is cook things in quantity that we can use for more than one meal. That way we have good easy food for dinners. Not much mess. And it does not heat up our house! Roast - Roast onion soup mix dried water We put the roast in. Then put the soup mix on top. Then we pour water over it till it almost reaches the top. We cook overnight till dinner the next day. Note: we put in a frozen roast. But it would work with a non-frozen roast also. Then we divide up the roast into several meals. The meat is always the hardest thing to cook. We prefer to use the meat in meals we can microwave to heat them up. Like beef fajitas. BBQ beef sands. Casseroles. etc... Ground Beef -We put several pounds of ground beef in our crock pot and cook it on low over night. Then we drain the fat. We divide it up and put it in freezer bags and put it in the freezer. We use it for spaghetti, tacos, casseroles, chili, and any recipe that calls for browning ground beef. This saves us time and we don't heat up the kitchen several times to get browned ground beef. Whole Chicken - 1 whole chicken boullion (chicken) water We put the whole chicken in. Then put chicken boullion in and pour water over almost to the top. Again we cook the chicken frozen, and overnight till dinner the next day. Then we divide it up into 4 or more meals. We use it in on easy dinners so as not the heat up the kitchen. NOTE: The reason we cook them so long is so the meat just falls apart, or off the bones. Less work that way. Chicken Breasts - We cook enough for several meals. We have recipes on this site for those. Those are just some of our ideas. Double and tripling recipes if you can will help you cook less. Heat the house less and appreciate your summer crock pot recipes.
